EV vehicles and battery manufacturing

• 20,000 public EV charging stations by 2031: 20,000 fast-charging stations will be set up across Tamil Nadu by 2031. • Battery cell factories: a 20% cash subsidy will be given to companies setting up large battery-cell manufacturing plants, making Tamil Nadu India's No. 1 battery-producing state. • A production-linked incentive (PLI scheme) will be given to lithium and cobalt recycling plants. • ₹10,000 financial aid will be given to help traditional mechanics retrain as EV mechanics. • Resident welfare associations that build EV charging infrastructure in apartment blocks will get 50% (up to ₹50,000). • A 100% motor vehicle tax exemption for 5 years will be given to those using EVs for commercial purposes.
