Metro expansion; Chennai Metro Phase 2, Coimbatore Metro Phase 1 and Madurai Metro project draft
The TVK government will swiftly complete the 118.9 km Chennai Metro rail Phase 2, and will start and complete the 40 km Coimbatore Metro rail Phase 1. Within 18 months of taking office, a detailed project report (DPR) for the Madurai Metro rail project will be filed. From every metro station, electric auto service will be provided to nearby major junctions.

The Union Housing Ministry again rejected the Coimbatore and Madurai metro DPRs (resubmitted by the state in May 2026), recommending BRTS instead - a setback for this promise.
