Delta bio-refinery centre

During every paddy harvest that takes place in Tamil Nadu, tonnes of straw are available. But they are mostly not used properly and are burnt by fire; or removed as agricultural waste. Changing this situation, a scheme to produce gas from straw will be implemented. For this, 10 straw refinery plants will be set up in Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts, through which ethanol and gas will be produced. Through this, additional income will be made available to paddy farmers. Further, the straw refinery plants set up in this way will be managed by local farmer groups.
