Space technology; Kulasekarapattinam space research investment

With ISRO's new spaceport set to be located at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district, the TVK government will undertake the following initiatives to make Tamil Nadu the leading state in space technology in India. The Thoothukudi - Tirunelveli region will be transformed into India's first space technology special investment region. For the next ten years, tax exemption will be granted to those who invest here in this regard. A Sky Start Seed Fund worth Rs.100 crore will be created to encourage Satellite & Propulsion System and Drone-related startup companies. Government infrastructure support - Space testing centres will be built by the government. Space research entrepreneurs can use these at subsidised rates. Students' research project - Government funding allocation for a satellite designed by ten students from an engineering college every year.
