TANGEDCO reform; reducing electricity charges for apartments and micro and small industries

Due to improper efficiency and theft in TANGEDCO power distribution, up to 16% of electricity is lost. Its value is about Rs.3000 crore per year. To prevent this, the TVK government will bring a five-year reform plan. Through this - 18 thousand old transformers will be replaced; through a time-of-use electricity tariff to reduce AT&C losses from 16% to 10%, and by charging residential tariffs instead of the commercial tariffs currently levied in the common areas of apartments, the electricity charges of 30 lakh urban apartment residents will be reduced.
