TANGEDCO மின் பகிர்மானத்தின் முறையற்ற செயல்திறன் மற்றும் திருட்டு காரணமாக 16% வரை மின்சாரம் இழப்பு ஏற்படுகிறது. இதன் மதிப்பு ஆண்டுக்கு சுமார் ரூ.3000 கோடி. இதனைத் தடுக்க ஐந்தாண்டு சீரமைப்பு திட்டத்தை த.வெ.க. அரசு கொண்டுவரும். இதன்மூலம் – 18 ஆயிரம் பழைய மின்மாற்றிகள் மாற்றப்படும்; AT&C இழப்புகளை 16% லிருந்து 10% ஆக குறைக்க நேரத்திற்கு ஏற்ப மின்கட்டண முறை, அடுக்குமாடிக் குடியிருப்பு பொதுப் பகுதிகளில் தற்போது வசூலிக்கப்படும் வணிக கட்டணத்திற்குப் பதிலாகக் குடியிருப்பு கட்டணம் வசூலிப்பது ஆகியவற்றின் மூலம் 30 லட்சம் நகர அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்புவாசிகளின் மின்கட்டணம் குறைக்கப்படும்.Due to improper efficiency and theft in TANGEDCO power distribution, up to 16% of electricity is lost.
