Model villages; urban-style modern infrastructure for 5000 villages

As part of Tamil Nadu's integrated development plan, 5000 villages will first be taken as models, where advanced ultra-modern infrastructure like that of urban areas will be built. These will include renewing all water resources, sports grounds, parks, community halls, street lighting on all streets, door-to-door collection of solid waste, and creating village forests using the natural resources that are the village's identity. Model villages will be selected every year during Pongal. A prize of ₹50 lakh for development will be given to the best-performing village.
