To ensure that coastlines are free of huts, a coastal housing scheme will be created. Under this scheme, the houses built will be constructed to a standard that withstands cyclones, sea erosion and severe weather. Fishing communities in Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari districts, which are highly prone to cyclone damage, will be given priority in this scheme.
